About this concert
Season Six of our Song Contest will be held on 4th Wednesdays of the month (except Nov. & Dec., 2nd Wednesdays). Round One of the 10-month contest is on Wed. May 22. 10 contestants play 2 original songs each, 3 judges award 3 prizes. No entry fee or cover charge.
May 22 contestants: Kelly Moreno, Michael Wilds, Cassi Nicholls, Rich Krumholz, John Verdi, Gin Fragonard, The Belmores, Loren Radis, Theo Moreno, and Tim MacLane.
Our prize sponsors:
--Best Song wins $50 for printing services at The UPS Store in the Marigold Center SLO,
--Damon Castillo will give the winner of Best Performance an hour of recording time at his Laurel Lane studios in San Luis Obispo.
--Best Overall wins an hour of recording time at Robbo Music of Morro Bay, and is invited to the Season Six Finale in April 2025, where the Grand Prize is $1,000.

Steve Key Biography
Steve Key is an award-winning songwriter, performer and recording artist, best known as the writer of "33, 45, 78 (Record Time)" recorded by country music star Kathy Mattea. He now lives in Shell Beach on California's Central Coast. Steve Key performs solo, sometimes with guitar or fiddle backup. His latest album is called "How I Learned to Drink", a collection of 10 Key originals.
Before he arrived on the Central Coast 12 years ago, Steve was a touring folksinger who played major concert venues and folk festivals across the country and in Canada. His songs were covered by dozens of folk and country acts. He recorded for New York's Fast Folk label, which is now part of the Folkways collection at the Smithsonian.
