About this concert
An intimate evening of music with Darren Criss and Grammy and Emmy Award-winning music director John McDaniel The American actor, singer and songwriter Darren Criss rose to fame starring on the television series “Glee” from 2010 to 2015 and received Emmy and Golden Globe awards for his leading role as killer Andrew Cunanan in “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” (2018). Criss has appeared on Broadway several times including “How to Succeed in Business…” in 2012, “Hedwig and the Angry Inch” in 2015, and in the 2022 revival of David Mamet’s “American Buffalo.” He has worked in film, released several albums of original music and holiday favorites, and recently finished an Off-Broadway run starring as Seymour in “Little Shop of Horrors. Since bursting onto the pop-culture landscape over a decade ago, Darren Criss has embodied the kind of kaleidoscopic artistry that's entirely uninhibited by form or genre. For this concert, Darren will be performing a playlist of songs featured throughout his wildly eclectic career as both a songwriter and performer. John McDaniel is a Grammy and Emmy Award-winning music director, composer, director, arranger, orchestrator and producer, and he serves as Artistic Director at the Tony Award-winning Eugene ONeill Theater Center. Most recently, he arranged, orchestrated and was Music Director for Carol Burnett's 90th birthday special on NBC, which won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Primetime Variety Special.

Darren Criss Biography

Darren Criss is a multi-faceted artist with an illustrious career spanning television, film, music and stage. His portrayal of Andrew Cunanan in Ryan Murphy’s award-winning series “American Crime Story: The Assassination of Gianni Versace”  was met with widespread critical acclaim, earning him a Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, Screen Actors’ Guild Award and Critics’ Choice Award. Criss made television history for being the first Filipino-American to win an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Screen Actors Guild Award. It has also earned him acting nods from the Television Critics Association Awards, MTV Movie & TV Awards and People’s Choice Awards. His performance was deemed by critics as “electrifying,” “chilling,” “compelling,” “magnetic and frightening,” and “career-changing.”

Up next, Criss will star as Lieutenant Eugene Lindsey alongside Woody Harrelson and Mandy Moore in the Roland Emmerich-directed World War II film “Midway” that’s set for release in 2019. In 2018, Criss wrapped the UK leg of the wildly successful LM/DC Tour with his “Glee” co-star Lea Michele in Birmingham. In the fall of 2016, Criss returned to Broadway in his critically-acclaimed performance as Hedwig in “Hedwig and the Angry Inch,” which kicked off the 2014 Tony Award-winning Best Musical Revival’s national tour. The New York Times touted Criss as “mesmerizing” when he first stepped into the title role on Broadway in 2015. Best known for playing Blaine Anderson on FOX’s global phenomenon “Glee,” he received an Emmy Award nomination in 2015 for best original music and lyrics for the song “This Time,” which was performed by Lea Michele and appeared in the episode titled “Dreams Come True.”
