Nic van Graan Biography
Nic van Graan is an independent singer-songwriter and producer from Cape Town, South Africa. He recently made the move to The Netherlands, and he now calls Amsterdam home. His arrival coincided with the launch of his solo recording project under his own name.
If his debut single, Two Tattoos, is the yin - his follow up single, Summer’s Our Forever Now, is the yang. SOFN, releases in early January and is a warm hopeful embrace of the future. Experimenting further, Nic refines his ethereal indie sound with his second soft summery number.
His creative pursuits were first inspired by his own artistic family, nurtured by his band and now he expands his wings with his solo project - a safe space for artistic experimentation where his mission is to create the most beautiful music he can. It’s an exploration of his light and dark sides, the tranquil and chaotic - a collision of melancholy and hope.
Back home Nic was the frontman of acclaimed indie-pop band Year of Dogs. The group has toured parts of South Africa and played alongside many major local acts at some of the biggest festivals and stages.
Being a self-proclaimed chameleon don't be surprised to find him sitting quietly in a city hall listening to an orchestra, stomping away in an underground club, or soaking up the evening light at a live music festival.
