About this concert
Come Join us as we pay tribute to that magic period of country music with the weekly show that made Elvis, Hank Williams and Kitty Wells superstars! It’s the show where Western Swing, Texas two-step, Cajun waltzes, Kentucky Bluegrass, Tennessee Hillbilly, Southern Gospel and Memphis Rockabilly converged every Saturday Night in the Municipal Auditorium in Shreveport Louisiana from 1948-1960 and broadcast on KWKH with 50,000 watts of country power across the USA! It's the musical incubator of artists like Jim Reeves, Webb Pierce, Faron Young, Johnny Horton, Bob Lumen and a whole heap more. Shreveport born and raised musicians that went on to become household names got their start on the Hayride - musicians like DJ Fontana, Floyd Cramer and James Burton. Sun Studio artists like Elvis, Jerry Lee, Carl Perkins, Johnny Cash and more were Hayride regulars as were country stars of the day like Lefty Frizzell, Ernest Tub, Bob Wills, and June Carter. We love doing this show and bringing you the stories and lives behind the hits. It's such a big part of country music history and the classic songs stand the test of time so well. Get dressed up in your western/rockabilly duds (or come as you are) and book a retro night of country culture at Canterbury Hurlstone Park RSL!

Michelle Little Biography

A singer/songwriter originally from the Central West of NSW, Michelle Little has been mesmerising audiences for over 25 years. In that time she has performed all over Australia and overseas with performances at festivals and venues from the Sydney Opera House to the legendary Bluebird Café in Nashville, USA. Her tribute to Patsy Cline has been a festival favourite at the Tamworth Country Music festival for 12 years.
Born in Gilgandra, Michelle Little grew up in the small rural town of Mendooran before moving to Dubbo in 1998. After finish her schooling at the old Dubbo High School, Michelle went on to study at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and now lives in Sydney’s busy Inner West where, as well as performing, she teaches at 2 primary schools.
Recently, the COVID19 restrictions have meant that live gigs have just about dried up for the singer, however Michelle, like so many others, has come up with some ways to adapt during this time.
Each Sunday from 5-6pm you can see Michelle performing live from her lounge room to yours via Facebook Live and she has also taken this break from touring to get back into the studio for some long overdue recording.
In May this year, Michelle released her song, Nice To See You, her first original release in over a decade. The song is being played on country radio across Australia and also around the world. The song is a modern example of the western swing genre complete with fiddle from Luke Moller and pedal steel from Jy Perry Banks. A conversation between old friends, the song serves as an invitation to listeners to reconnect with Michelle’s music.
Nice To See You is the first single from an upcoming album due to be released in 2021. Michelle plans to release another single soon and is very excited about recording with talented producer, Michael Carpenter at LoveHz Studios in Leichhardt. Having spent the past few years focused on her live shows, this new album will feature Michelle’s original songs which definitely reflect her country roots.
