About this concert
Invigorating, brilliant, and charismatic are just a slew of the adjectives used to describe Tropa Magica. “The East L.A. duo made a name for themselves by combining alternative, grunge, and psychedelic rock with cumbia” says Spin magazine. In late 2019, brothers David and Rene Pacheco self-released a limited edition 7-inch vinyl EP titled “Smells Like Cumbia” featuring cumbia renditions of Nirvana songs. Tropa Magica has performed at SoCal festival favorites like Desert Daze and Tropicalia and has supported established acts such as Bomba Estereo, Molotov, and comedian Felipe Esparza.

Tropa Magica Biography
Tropa Magica was formed by brothers David and Rene Pacheco in 2018. Inspired by the songs and vibes of 90’s East LA backyard quinceañeras, baptisms, family gatherings and punk shows. The band blends in the guitar and rhythms of 60’s Peruvian Cumbias and 90’s grunge with a neo-southern psychedelic twist that transports the listener into a tropical psychedelic dance party.
