About this concert
Musician Markeisha Ensley combines jazz, gospel and soul influences, a cross between Stevie Wonder and early Whitney Houston. A pianist and singer-songwriter, she was awarded the Abe Olman Scholarship Award for Excellence in Songwriting from the Songwriters Hall of Fame/Songwriters Guild of America. As an actress, she recently originated the role of Nina Simone in the concert drama, Little Girl Blue, which showcased at the National Black Theatre Festival in Nina’s home state of North Carolina. Markeisha Ensley Biography
Musician Markeisha Ensley combines gospel and jazz with smooth soul, a cross between Stevie Wonder and early Whitney Houston. An accomplished pianist and singer-songwriter, she was awarded the Abe Olman Scholarship Award for Excellence in Songwriting from the Songwriters Hall of Fame/Songwriters Guild of America in 2011 and invites her listeners in for an intimate set on life, love and surviving the journey. She has performed all over the world, most recently in Japan, Paris and the Philippines and is currently based in NYC. Markeisha's most recent EP is entitled Talk to Me. www.Markeisha.com
