Akilah Biography

Akilah Etienne is a recording artist, actress, Soprano, and music educator. Also a pageant queen, she was a finalist in Miss Maryland USA 2023. She is also the DAPP 14 cohort at the Motorhouse in Baltimore. As seen in the viral hit Violin by cookiee kawaii music video, similarly Akilah is a product of classical music. She holds a B. Mus from the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music and is also the co founder and CFO of Savgzworldwide. Her personal expression is informed by her training which helps her give life to her creativity. With a background ranging from jazz, to classical, to her own preferences for rock and alternative music, Akilah’s music marries multiple genres to take listeners on a sonic journey. Akilah’s soothing vocals and pensive songwriting invites listeners to open up to new perspectives right along with her, wherever her mind goes. Topics like love can be touching to explore, but often she goes deeper into matters of the soul at times giving voice to unpopular opinions but hard truths. Her presence can be described as theatrical, powerful, funny, and fierce. She consistently delivers her flawless vocals with grace by a voice that is sweet, powerful, loving, and emotional all at once. Some highlighted performances include being her graduation’s national anthem singer at the Barclay's Center, the featured soloist for 'Heavensward' during the ‘Final Fantasy XVII Distant World's’ North American Premiere at Carnegie Hall in 2018, and the national anthem singer for Bernie Sanders’ 2020 campaign announcement. Others she performed for include civil rights activist Claudette Colvin and the honorable Dr. Cornel West under the direction of Grammy Award winning Arturo O'Farrill
