Robert Gee Music Biography

Robert Gee Bio True “soul” music evokes emotions and speaks straight to the heart of the listener. Robert Gee not only continues the great legacy of soulful singers, he evolves it. With a rich, seductive voice that compels you to join him in his sonic odyssey of love and longing, he has crafted a multi-dimensional sound that is at once uniquely his own but reminiscent of the great crooners who came before him. Just take one listen to his wildly authentic reading of the Oscar Brown chestnut, “Round Midnight,” where Robert Gee very convincingly channels Donny Hathaway with shades of Stevie Wonder. While he clearly pays tribute to some of his musical influences, he has no problem switching gears to serve up his own brand of modern day soul complete with lush, harmonious backing vocals that are a delight to the ears. On tracks like the infectious mid-tempo gem, “Here We Go,” Robert Gee showcases his inspired musicianship with a vocal arrangement that would eat up a vocalist of a lesser caliber. However, his forte is delivering quiet storm ballads such as the slow burn groove of “Waiting.” You find yourself rooting for him as he masterfully persuades the object of his affection to take their friendship to the next level and sets a mood that makes it all but impossible to refuse his pleas. Hailing from the city of brotherly love, Robert Gee is an heir apparent to the “Philly Soul” tradition. The youngest of six children, his considerable talents were noticed at an early age when he received a scholarship to study classical voice at the Settlement Music School. From there, he continued to build upon his accomplishments joining the acclaimed African-American opera company, Opera Ebony and gaining a place on the “Who’s Who in Music among American Students” list. Brimming with confidence, it was no big surprise that Robert Gee was able to put his skills to the test on the ultimate proving ground by winning the world-famous Apollo Theater Amateur Night! Robert Gee’s stellar talents don’t end with singing and songwriting. He is an accomplished actor/dancer who has starred in lead roles for some of the most outstanding productions in theater history such as Jesus Christ Superstar, The Wiz, Ain’t Misbehavin, and Pippin. Robert Gee has received rave reviews for his stage work by the LA Times and LA Weekly. He made his screen debut in The Little Richard Story as “Bossman.” Most notably, he was nominated for an NAACP Image award in 2006 for Best Supporting Actor for his role in Michael Ajakwe’s Body Language. However, it is his electrifying stage presence and voice that has allowed Robert Gee to work with some of the entertainment industry’s elite talents such as the late Luther Vandross, Debbie Allen, Vesta, Bebe Winans, Pauletta Washington, and the Emotions to name a few. Now, it’s his turn to rightfully take his place as the next big thing in music and with such an impeccable reputation as a showstopper, he’s bound to become an icon. I am a singer/ song writer, producer and lover of all mankind. Music is my life!
