Virginia Marcs Biography
"In all my violent swells,
I guess you could always tell,
I would never be an ebbing tide."
- Virginia Marcs, “Silent Hysteria”
Virginia Marcs has worn a lot of musical hats. From Madonna-obsessed adolescent to opera singer turned swing band leader, none of them fit until she received her first guitar from her sister. More than just an instrument, it was the gift of permission to pursue her truth.
Five years after getting that guitar, Virginia successfully crowd-funded her debut album Climbing the Wall, featuring producer Katie Buchanan. The album was heralded in Times Ledger and BORO Magazine as well as receiving a 3.9 out of 5 from Divide and Conquer. The same year, Virginia played over 30 shows, most notably at The Bitter End and Bowery Electric as well as the Between Two Bridges and Venus Envy Festivals.
To mark the anniversary of Climbing the Wall, Virginia Marcs will release her single, "I Need You." This end-of-summer, feel good track will be celebrated at Rockwood Music Hall on the eve of its release. Audience members will receive a free download of the song - along with a bonus music video produced by Alexander Hammer.
