About this concert
Vox Anima London ends its 2024 concert season with Christopher Haygood conducting his upper voices choir – Cantamus Camerata from Oklahoma State University – opening this final event.
Continuing under Haygood’s baton, Cantamus Camerata joins with Vox Anima London Singers to present two works by Argentinian composer Martín Palmeri. Flying in from Buenos Aires for the concert residency, composer and pianist Palmeri will delight everyone as he takes his seat at the piano for this evening’s UK premiere of his Nisi Dominus.
Following the interval, Palmeri’s Misa a Buenos Aires – Misatango will have you wanting to dance in the aisles! A recent review in the Chicago Classical Review said: ‘Misatango is a setting of the traditional Latin Mass in a variety of tango idioms. The fusion is perhaps unexpected due to stereotypical images of tango – impassioned, intertwined dancers staring fixedly into each other’s eyes, with women seductively gritting roses between their teeth. This is far too narrow an image of what is a subtle, varied and deeply expressive genre.’
Let your senses transport you to Argentina as the choir, soloist, strings, piano and bandoneon caress your ears!
