About this concert
The Frederick Arts Council (FAC) is pleased to host PANOPLY: an alternative cabaret of music, performance, and visual arts. Presented by Gasping Productions and Brain Dead Live, This arts-forward event brings together a panoply of regional and local musicians, visual creators, and performance artists, for an evening of multi-discipline entertainment on two floors of the FAC Art Center Building in downtown Frederick. The evening will be presented much like a play, featuring acts and scenes, with an emcee moving the audience around the building, for a unique, interactive experience. Featuring Performances by- J. Robbins (band) is a four-piece alternative rock powerhouse. Recently featured in The Washington Post, J. Robbins has been the singer/guitarist and principal songwriter in several well renowned DC-and-Baltimore-area post-punk rock bands since the late 1980s, most notably Jawbox, Burning Airlines, and Channels. He is also owner and operator of the Magpie Cage recording studio in Baltimore MD. Jackie and The Treehorns are an alternative rock band from the D.C. area. Formed in 2009 by Steven Rubin, the band creates "full-throttle music with a fluidity of sounds atop a smooth veneer that is wildly interesting and unpredictable: super-catchy, pumped-up indie rock with addictively clever rhythms and subtle, smiling, muscular menace." Gaspers is a five-piece band hailing from Frederick, MD. Formed in the winter of 2022 they have collaborated to create a unique sound that blends their influences of punk, alternative, indie, post-punk, and goth. Brain Dead Design is creating and presenting video backgrounds for the bands as well as assembling a montage of works local filmmakers, animators, and visual artists to play at featured times throughout the evening. ESP Dance, a national award-winning competitive dance company located in Thurmont, MD, are creating two distinct dance scenes for the event. Watson and Garrett Garns are collaborating to bring us an exciting take on an event emcee. Part animation, part live action, it promises to be a very unique experience. Event graphics by Brain Dead Design. Doors at 5:00, program begins at 5:30 This performance is $17.50 in advance, and tickets may be purchased prior to the event via Eventbrite. Jackie and the Treehorns Biography

Borrowing liberally from all styles of rock, Jackie and The Treehorns are an Alexandria, VA-based band that plays all original music. Formed in 2009 by Steven Rubin under the guise of an alter ego and his band, the concept might be tongue-in-cheek but the music most certainly is not. The bands music covers a wide sonic palate while Jackie’s lyrics touch on subjects ranging from celebrity stalkers, serial killers, and hitchhikers to oddities such as UFO’s, deja vu, and ghosts.

The bands most recent singles "Made You Run", "Hidden Cameras" and album "It's Never Too Late" were recorded at Ivakota Studio in Washington, DC. "The J. Album", "A World Gone Mad", "Writer", "RU4REAL?", and "Do You Mind If I Wear A Clown Mask?", were recorded at Inner Ear Studios with legendary engineer Don Zientara.

Jackie and The Treehorns’ music covers a wide sonic palate, taking the listener down familiar paths before detouring towards parts unknown, while Jackie’s lyrics explore topics ranging from celebrity stalkers, serial killers, and hitchhikers to odd phenomena like UFO’s, déjà vu, ghosts, and extraterrestrial party favors.

Their most recent release, "It's Never Too Late" was recorded at Ivakota Studios in Washington, DC with Ben Green . For their previous releases, The J Album (2018), singles Writer and A World Gone Mad (2017), RU4REAL? (2016), and Do You Mind If I Wear A Clown Mask? (2015) the band saw no other choice but to team with legendary engineer Don Zientara at the fabled Inner Ear Studios in Arlington, VA.
