About this concert
$20 Adv + Fees | 21+ Melding the noisy pop hooks of late-’80s indie pop, the hazy guitar overload of shoegaze, and the gauzy punch of dream pop, Ringo Deathstarr carried the torch for the original wave of bands like Ride, Medicine, and early Smashing Pumpkins, who worked in similar fashion. Starting with their debut album Colour Trip, the trio’s recorded output was reliably consistent from the very beginning; each record displayed their skills at crafting blown-out guitar pop songs, then putting them on tape with minimal nods to modern recording technology. This meant that their albums held up nicely next to those of their inspirations, and when the band finally pushed the formula a little by adding new sounds on 2020’s self-titled album, they began to forge their own path. Old Coke Biography

Old Coke brings a driving edge to a genre that focuses more on larger than life guitar tones rather than energy.

The name was inspired by bottles of Coca-Cola modified by artist Cildo Meireles on display at the London Tate Modern.

Guitarist/vocalist Christopher Ruiz's loud style of songwriting riffs on nostalgia, romance, and human connection. Ruiz's melancholic vocals balance the big guitar tone and colourful chords with the aggression and thrashiness often found in heavier genres.

Their latest EP “Seasonal” is their most emotionally charged and musically ambitious project to date. A journey that weaves between lovers and loss, where tracks such as ‘Coffee Eyes’ are about doing psychedelics with a girlfriend in lockdown, ‘Suntinged’ reflects on a California summer heartbreak, and ‘Vapor Drunk’ being a light love letter in song form.

Showcasing a varied sonic range from shoegaze, dream pop, punk and noise rock, Old Coke has quickly evolved and leveled up to the technically dynamic and energetic live performances you will witness.
