About this concert
TIM EDEY "Tim’s show will appeal to all music lovers not just folk fans, a must for fans of the guitar" - Richard Lindsay, Ullapool Guitar Festival. "Musical genius doesn’t really cover it. Probably one of the finest musicians on the acoustic music scene today, a joy to work with!" Sharon Shannon. Delighted to have Tim with us as part of the SoundBox 2024 Spring Thing, playing a set including music from a brand-new album of songs and instrumental dexterity (due out Spring 2024 - perfect timing!), as well as popular favourites from his repertoire. Tim brings remarkable musical virtuosity, along with his engaging personality and a sense of fun, in a show that celebrates the music of both the folk & Celtic traditions, gypsy jazz, World & Classical European music, bluegrass & strong chorus songs. DAN WALSH - "If one name is synonymous with the revival of interest in the banjo, it’s Dan Walsh." - Living Tradition "Eclectically inspired and consistently brilliant." - Froots Describing what Dan does is no easy task but at the heart of it is British, Irish and American folk music delivered with a healthy dose of funky grooves, all performed with his unique and dazzling take on clawhammer style banjo, helping to challenge all preconceptions about the instrument. Add to all that poignant songs, astonishing musical departures and lively humour, and the result is a truly memorable live show that impresses both on the festival field and in the homely intimacy of a house concert. As well as his solo work, Dan is a member of the renowned Urban Folk Quartet, and has also performed in a number of successful duo collaborations - the most recent being with country-blues exponent Brooks Williams. Dan is an in-demand session musician, and has recorded seven solo albums. We're very pleased to have him back to play the first-half set for us at this show.
