About this concert
This ensemble brings together two distinct voices on the Australian jazz scene, Emma Gilmartin and Anton Delecca. They will be performing interpretations of classic jazz standards along with originals from their own albums. Emma Gilmartin has gained a reputation as one of Australia's most talented jazz vocalists. Her treatment of jazz standards is undeniably unique, both enchanting and defiant, and has the ability to both restore and recast the work in a new light. Tenor saxophonist Anton Delecca has led his own ensembles for over 25 years and has four albums released on Jazzhead Records plus a new album, The Offering out on EarShift Music. He recently lived in New York for 2 years, completing a masters degree in Jazz Studies. “Delecca’s seven compositions are exceedingly thoughtful and original, with real melodic flair” Eric Myers, Weekend Australian “There is a lightness of being in the voice ... a voice that must be listened to as well as heard.” Michael Foster, Canberra Times Anton Delecca - The Offering https://youtu.be/QvEOFw_PcMw Emma Gilmartin - Alice In Wonderland https://youtu.be/zb2gWTn3y64

Anton Delecca is an award winning tenor saxophonist, composer and educator from Melbourne, Australia. In December 2019 he returned from two and a half years living in New York completing a Masters in Jazz Studies at the Aaron Copland School of Music, the program created by master saxophonist Jimmy Heath.

He was performing, writing and arranging consistently there and recorded a soon to be released album featuring the stellar NY rhythm section of Caili O'Dohery - piano, Matt Clohesy - bass, Cory Cox - drums and alto saxophone prodigy Immanuel Wilkins on three tracks.

He played for many years with internationally renowned band The Bamboos and has performed and/or recorded with artists such as American jazz legends Arthur Blythe, Odean Pope, Wycliffe Gordon and recently funk legend Maceo Parker.
