About this concert
Vv Pete is the baddest boss in town – and she’s ready to burn up the stage at Vivid LIVE. With her commanding flow, club-rattling beats and eclectic musical palette, the Mount Druitt-based Sudanese rapper and singer has sparked a wildfire of hype on the local hip-hop scene, dropping instant bangers and playing buzzy sets at Oxford Arts Factory, FBi Radio’s SMACS Fest and SXSW Sydney. While spitting impressive bars as a teenager, Vv Pete caught the attention of triple j’s hip-hop host Hau Latukefu and Sydney crew OneFour, and drew early comparisons to the likes of Stefflon Don, Missy Elliott and Lizzo. Pretty soon her 2022 debut single 'Bussit' was everywhere – including a spin on New York’s legendary hip-hop station, Hot 97, and a needle drop on hit series Heartbreak High. She teamed up with Trackwork producer UTILITY and electronic music don Cassius Select for the fierce 'Frauds' (2022), and reunited with the latter for last year’s 'Jordan 1s', a Jersey-influenced heater sassed with a platinum hook and Pete’s peerless flow. Apple Music listed the track as one of the songs of the year, and FBi Radio awarded it Song of the Year, while also naming Vv Pete Best Live Act. On 'BACARDI PAPÍ', the young star pivoted to the club with a throbbing baile funk workout, co-produced by reggaeton musician – and Beyoncé’s Renaissance collaborator – Kelman Duran. With a much-anticipated debut mixtape on the way, this breakout star is about to serve up a feast – and the Varvies are eating. This is her Vivid LIVE debut.

Vv Pete Biography

With only five singles to her name, Vv Pete has solidified her place as a one-of-a-kind, infectious, and vital addition to Australia’s hip-hop and club scene. The Sydney based, Sudanese rapper/singer with a sharpened flow reminiscent of artists like Stefflon Don, Lizzo and Sexxy Red is forging a genre-bending flavour of Aus-based rap that is hers alone: globe-trotting, heavy club sonics, rapid-fire wit, and boss-level delivery. Varvies rise! The Vv Pete takeover is imminent.

With a live show reputation that wreaks havoc, unites audiences, and converts each listener into loyal stans - Varvies - her steady takeover has continued to grow with every release. On her first single alone, strip club anthem ‘Bussit’, Vv found fans in Hot 97’s Ebro In The Morning, placement on Heartbreak High Season 1, and praise across triple j’s Hip Hop Show, FBi Radio, Acclaim Magazine and Complex AU.

Her grime lean on diss-track ‘Frauds’ took her to hyping up crowds in support of Jay1, Denzel Curry, MC Yallah & Debmaster, the Sydney Opera House’s Street University and FBi Radio SMACs Fest with an official remix by Mallgrab featured across Spotify’s New Music Friday Dance, Local Hype, Portal and The Drip. Vv would close 2022 as a coveted one to watch, winner of FBi Radio’s SMAC Award for Next Big Thing and finalist in Acclaim Magazine’s All Stars.

Flash forward to ‘Jordan 1s’ and all eyes were on Vv, breaking through to playlisting on triple j, ambassador for Spotify’s EQUAL complete with Times Square billboard and cover girl across the A1 and hot girl sh*t playlists, spotlighted on Apple Music’s Up Next to performing at Listen Out nationally, SXSW Sydney, Phoenix Central Park for Vivid Sydney amongst support from RAGE, RTR FM. Vv continues to be a dominating force locally and abroad taking home two major wins at FBi Radio’s 2023 SMAC Awards for Song Of The Year ('Jordan 1s' with co-winner Utility) and Best Live Act, and the drop of her latest ‘Mamas Car’ saw Ebro invite the rapper to chat behind the mic about the release and her ongoing skyrocket.

Following the release of hard hitting club track ‘Bacardi Papi’, which saw her collaborate with LA-based Dominican producer and Dystopic-Reggaeton pioneer Kelman Duran (Beyoncés Renaissance), Vv Pete is continuing to set a trail blazing fire in 2024 with freestyles for triple j’s Bars of Steel and UK outlet Mixtape Madness. 'Mashallah' sets the scene for big moves to come with a headline show at Sydney Opera House for Vivid Live and a debut mixtape on the horizon -'Mashallah' - Vv Pete is the future.
