Angelo named the trio "Ceci n'est pas a trio" as an homage to Belgium, referencing Magritte's surrealism. The choice stems from the trio's unique sound, where the organ functions as both a distinctive sound element and fulfills the bass role, creating the impression of a larger ensemble. Formed in late 2013, the trio emerged from the meeting of three musicians at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels. Their repertoire, characterized by festive and well-executed performances, led them to play in various clubs and festivals, including "Brussels Jazz Weekend." At the core of their music lies a passion for the golden era of New Orleans and Swing, spanning from the earliest jazz recordings to the big band swing of the 1940s. Beyond their musical prowess, Angelo and his fellow musicians aim to showcase jazz's enduring connection with other art forms, interpreting and reimagining traditions and values.
