Mental Shift Biography
Mental Shift, independent alternative female fronted rock, Netherlands, since 2016
Mental Shift is a Female Fronted Rock-band from the Netherlands. Their sound has been described as a mix of Skunk Anansie, Kate Bush, Placebo, The Gathering and Blondie. While alternative in its core, the different musical backgrounds of the musicians result in a mix of influences from pop, metal, rock and indie from seventies up till now.
The songs are mostly mid tempo and supported by heavy riffs, high pitched vocals, accessible melodies with a solid base of drums and bass which leads to the accessible, melodic, alternative rock of Mental Shift, sometimes rap or grunt.
In summer 2018 their debut album ‘Emergence’ was recorded in the Netherlands at RockInc. Recording and released in November 2018. The album was produced by Joss Mennen (Zinatra and Mennen).
Early 2020 Mental Shift started writing new songs and selecting new band members.
In October 2020 the first release of new of songs took place, Winter, soon followed by The Last Thing in January and Déjà vu in May 2021. Latest release It's Time in October 15th and more to follow.....All under independent alternative music label GHM Records.
And soon Mental Shift will tour again!
