About this concert
Jazz vocalist and soprano, Alicia Waller, most recognized for her work as bandleader for the jazz fusion ensemble, Alicia Waller & The Excursion, returns to her classical roots in recital at the Harlem School of the Arts. Waller will present "Honey & Rue" by André Previn (1929-2019), "Scena from 'Ernestine,'” by Joseph Bologne (1745-1799), "A hush you could see" by Dale Trumbore (b. 1987), and "Words Like Freedom" by Leo Yablans (b. 1998).
This program features the East Coast premiere of "A hush you could see" by Trumbore, which was written for Waller’s voice. Edward Callahan (piano) and Joey Duke (clarinet) will collaborate as featured performers.

Alicia Waller Biography
Alicia Waller is recognized for her work as bandleader for the jazz fusion ensemble Alicia Waller & The Excursion. A multi-talented singer-songwriter with a background as an operatic soprano, Alicia has since focused on soul music, jazz, and the African diaspora as the foundation for her EP Some Hidden Treasure, released in February 2020. Her voice and sound have been hailed as “flexible and virtuosic."
