Jorge Montanez, professionally known as Gio, stands as a distinguished drummer and percussionist hailing from Barranquilla, Colombia, and nurtured in the vibrant music scene of Miami. With a rich musical journey spanning two decades, Gio has been an integral part of the music industry since 2010, contributing his rhythmic expertise to various renowned artists.

Gio's impressive repertoire includes collaborations with acclaimed musicians such as Goyo, Paulina Rubio, Greeicy, Wisin y Yandel, Don Omar, Jencarlos Canela, Mirella Cesa, Domino Saints, Ninel Conde, Elena Rose, Obie Bermudez, Manu Manzo, Moneda Dura, Baby Lores, Angel Bleu, Naika, Periko & Jessi Leon, Patrick Romantik, Monterosa, Falquez, Mariana Seoane, Cabas, Carolina La O, Locos por Juana, Tato Marenco, La Santa Cecilia, Chocquibtown, Jahfe, Rec 808, Ed Calle, Bryan Visbal, The Great Fear, Death Becomes One, Hanna Rivas, and his band Kerreke.

Gio's musical journey began in high school when his fútbol aspirations were curtailed, leading him to immerse himself in the music world. Initially drawn to drums due to their perceived simplicity, Gio discovered a lasting passion that has fueled his career ever since. During college, he expanded his musical horizons, exploring genres like salsa, merengue, and cumbia, showcasing his versatility.

Equally proficient in percussion instruments such as cajón, bongo, congas, and guitar, Gio's influences include iconic figures like Joey Jordison, Steve Jordan, Ash Soan, Waldo Madera, and Mike Portnoy. His recording process is marked by meticulous attention to style and song, carefully selecting drums, snares, cymbals, and percussive elements based on the unique requirements of each project. Collaborating closely with producers and artists, Gio ensures seamless integration of his rhythmic expertise, offering creative input while respecting the artistic vision.

Gio's career has seen numerous highlights, including opening for Alicia Keys with Goyo at the Movistar Arena, performing after Pope Francis in Panama with the group "The Call" for a staggering audience of 600,000 people, and gracing the stage of the American Airlines Arena alongside various artists. These moments stand as a testament to Gio's exceptional talent and ability to leave an indelible mark on the global music landscape.
