About this concert
Daytime 2pm-7pm (Free entry) Evening 8pm-2am (£8 entry) As part of the Stourbridge Music Festival 'One Heart One Way', Claptrap invite you to Kill Your Television as we present an all-dayer, showcasing fabulous Netflix-slaying music from 5 current pioneers of the Stourbridge live music scene! The evening event is ticketed (£8) and features the return of the marvelous LEFT HAND MAN, and their 100% original recipe finger-lickin' indie rock, funk n' blues goodness! The band are followed by ex-JB's DJ Justin aka 'The Dude from JB's', who is tying our event in with the Stourbridge Town Hall appearance of Ned's Atomic Dustbin nicely with a set of Grebo, Shoegaze and baggy bangers through til 2am! This ticket is technically needed for the evening event ONLY - because....wait for it.... The daytime event is FREE!? Why?! Because we want to encourage the good people of the parish (and beyond) to come and check out some new sounds! The scene is as vibrant as it has ever been and we have some of the very best bands around to come and play a set for you! Our evening gigs here are always paid entry so (kind of) understand if some folks don't want to take a gamble on the unknown, so we're presenting the afternoon gig FREE to make the decision to go out that little bit easier. Hey, perhaps you're in town for the record fair, or one of the other evening events and fancy an afternoon of live music. Come on down! You're welcome to bring food up during the avo, if you want to grab a Mr Souvlaki or Romino's. Make a day of it like. Daytime Event: Free entry. Doors 2pm. Live music from 2:30pm-7pm. Featuring live sets from: Vanilla Pods, Shotgun Marmalade, Supersonic Fuzz Gun & Kid Charlemagne. (running order may not be announced because it's more fun that way!) These are the nicest bands in the business. We would happily go on a city break with any of them. Your bands are: Vanilla Pods: Powerpuff Girls, indie style, wielding guitars to fight the evil that is...boredom! Na-na-na-na-na! Shotgun Marmalade: Ska Punks - kinda Clash-y, Ruts-y. Guinness-y?! Supersonic Fuzz Gun: Super-cool, lo-fi, suede-esque scuzzy fuzzy indie rock. Kid Charlemagne: Jazz meets funk meets rock. It's suave, it's groovy, it's fearlessly funky. Niiiice.

Shotgun Marmalade Biography

High-energy, rhythmic, dark songs with plenty of clicks, chops and skanks. Vocals have grit and gravel and yet, have also been described as tuneful to the point of joining in riotously. Lyrics are hard-hitting and often cryptic, dealing with the darker side of life and imagination but still on occasion, lighting a minuscule beacon of hope in the land of shadows. (Ha! Ha! Ha!) They are, like the music, cynical, brooding, humorous, ebulient and ironic. And arranged in verses and choruses with twiddly bits. There is often foot-stomping accompaniment and an opportunity to ska-pogo for those who so wish.
