About this concert
As a natural follow-up of their phenomenal concert last summer, Danish-American saxophonist Michael Lington will return to Budapest to join the Peet Project on stage again for an extraordinary evening of melodic jazz, soul, funk and pop. There will be no shortage of new music: Michael's latest radio hit, South Bay, topped the Billboard jazz Chart at #1 for a record seven weeks recently, and the Peet Project's new studio album is due out this summer. For those who saw them on stage together last year, neither Michael nor the Peet Project needs an introduction. As a quick summary though, Michael Lington has performed and recorded with the likes of Dave Stewart, Vince Gill, Dave Koz, Booker T. Jones, Taylor Dayne, Barry Manilow, Randy Crawford, Brian Culbertson, Bobby Caldwell and Ray Parker, Jr. among others. His joint tour with Michael Bolton took him to 350 shows in 40 countries around the world. He is one of the key performers on the StageIt! platform and played a pioneering role during the pandemic. With their high-energy blend of jazz, pop and funk, the Peet Project is one of Hungary’s internationally recognized young bands. They won the top prize in Jazzy Radio’s Song Contest in Budapest (2009) and have been regular performers at major jazz festivals both in the US and at home since 2013. They won “Debut Artist of the Year” (2013), “Album of the Year” (2017) and “Song of the Year” (2020) awards at Catalina Island JazzTrax, the longest running and most prestigious jazz festival in the US. In early 2021, they topped Canada's jazz radio chart, and they are the first Hungarian band to date who have made it to the Billboard Smooth Jazz Top 30 chart with four different songs. They played in a number of European countries (Spain, Switzerland, Malta, Slovakia, Romania among others) and are returning performers on the A38 stage. The Peet Project and Michael Lington first worked together in 2019, when Michael played as featured artist on Anything for You, a seductive track on the band's sixth studio album Ups & Downs. The concert at the A38 will feature new and old hits from both the Peet Project’s and Michael Lington’s repertoire, offering an exceptional live music experience on a summer evening for lovers of funk, soul, pop and high-energy, melodic jazz.

Peet Project Biography

“…The Peet Project…an amazing Hungarian jazz group that completely WOWED our cruisers…” ~Dave Koz

“The Peet Project is primed to become a Global sensation… [they] have really managed to distill the important elements of Smooth Jazz and present the genre in a new, hip way that gets listeners dancing and grooving, and guarantees to leave a smile…! ”~Sandy Shore, SmoothJazz.com

A Billboard-charting group of young musicians serving up a high-energy blend of jazz, funk and pop, spiced up with violin and a dash of vocals. One of Hungary’s most successful bands on the international stage, the Peet Project’s career kicked off in 2009 when they won the grand prize of a local jazz station’s song contest. Since then, they have become regular performers at major US jazz festivals, released seven studio albums, played at Dave Koz Cruises, recorded with such luminaries as Paul Brown, Michael Lington, Marcus Anderson, Jonathan Fritzén, Ilya Serov and Michael Thompson among others, garnered multiple awards at JazzTrax.Com (Debut Artist of the Year 2013, Best Album of 2017 and Best Song of 2020) while also enjoying airplay in the US, the UK, Europe and Asia.

They first tasted Billboard success in 2015 with the single Jazz and Wine, before their 2017 springtime hit Rosy Cheeks (featuring Dave Koz and remixed by Paul Brown) spent 14 weeks in the Billboard Smooth Jazz Top 30. They delivered their first No. 1. hit in Canada in 2021, when Galaxies, a single off their sixth album reached the top spot on WaveFM’s Top 10 chart. Being jazz festival favorites in Europe, the Peet Project performed in Spain, Switzerland, Malta, Slovakia and Romania and opened for The Jacksons, Jeff Lorber Fusion and Lisa Stansfield in their native country of Hungary.

The Peet Project is currently in the studio working on their eighth studio album scheduled for release in the Summer of 2024, which they will bring to concert stages starting in May 2024.
