About this concert
Event Summary Barrlhouse Jam Featuring "Diggin Dirt" with Boot Juice at The Barrelhouse Brewing Co. Amphitheater in Paso Robles Event Details This seven-piece band emerging from behind the redwood curtain in Humboldt County, California, is skyrocketing through the west coast music scene. Shoveling out their own path, and consistently wowing audiences and filling concert venues, Diggin Dirt is no ordinary funk and soul band. Their sounds explode off the stage with a pure authentic energy, and once they have you in their clutches, the relentless dance party does not let up. Their intoxicating and infectious sound is fueled by a blazing horn section, pulsating rhythms, and searing guitars, that when combined into one, have been known to entice even the shyest of wallflowers to start movin and groovin. Tying it all together, is the band’s frontman, who is in possession of the pipes, charisma, moves, and natural-born-soul, and launches this ensemble into rarefied air. Behold, as they layer humble influences of psychedelic rock, Motown soul, Afrobeat, and even reggae, atop a sturdy foundation of late 60’s inspired funk music. You might have flashes of James Brown or Sly and the Family Stone, Otis Redding or Tower of Power, but make no mistake that you are in the presence of spine-tingling originality.

The stars are for the band, not the establishment. Boot Juice is in demand - playing lots of establishments like Oskar Blues, but also is sought after for well known music festivals in CA, Idaho, MIssoula, Washington and Colorado (they've played and been invited back to both Aspen and Steamboat Springs in the past year as well as Denver and Boulder). While the band was GREAT, FANTASTIC we were extremely disappointed in the lack of publicity. We drove down from Fort Collins to hear this band and when we arrived there were 4 other people there. By the end of the night there were maybe 9-10 people there, including us and the sound guy. Not a surprise, since there was NOTHING on the website about them coming. I checked a month before, two weeks before, and the night before. NOTHING. In fact, there was only one event mentioned for the week before and after and that event was a month or so away. When I didn't find them listed two weeks before, I called to get more information and spoke to an employee about the lack of publicity. I asked why they weren't listed. They said they were going to put up the information. There was still nothing the night before the event so I called again and was told that they didn't know for sure whether they were coming. Well, I KNEW they were coming because I had known for a couple of months that they were coming and I had literally just spoken with them. When we got to the restaurant, there weren't any signs indicating a band was going to be playing there that night - or any nights, for that matter. Even people on the streets had no way of knowing there was an "event". And then we were charged $20 to SEE the band in a separate room even though we were eating there. Others were eating at the bar, but weren't in the room. The music was great, but it sure hurts the experience when you only have a few people there to dance and sing and enjoy it. Plus, I imagine Oskar Blues lost money that night. One positive piece - the food was GREAT!

Boot Juice Biography

A band that refuses to be locked into a single genre, Boot Juice finds a sense of freedom in their ability to float from bluesy rock’n’roll to progressive bluegrass and back. Inspired by the likes of Railroad Earth and soulful harmonies of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Boot Juice curates a sound that is uniquely their own, resulting in a layered and dynamic live performance. Boot Juice has been kickin' around the west since 2016, leaving audiences happy, and dance floors sticky. The 7-piece band features electric and acoustic guitars, three vocalists, bass, drums, trumpet and alto saxophone. The band has its heart in Americana songwriting, with a rock’n’roll delivery that gets crowds moving. Boot Juice plays music that will attempt to bring you to the street corner, the river side, or the open highway. They have continued to produce new, interesting music that is hard to put a label on. It's been called a lot of things; Rock, Bluegrass, Blues, Folk, Country. Whatever you want to call it, they have found a sound that is uniquely their own, weaving 3 or more part vocal harmonies with a rocking backing band, and impressive lead guitar licks.
