Bigbang (Norway)

Bigbang was formed as far back as in 1992 and their ascent to the top of the Norwegian rock scene was a trip out of the ordinary. The trio spent several years in the trenches getting the tough education that comes with carrying your own equipment and promoting your own shows. Then, when it started to look like they were destined to remain on this track, everything changed. A single performance at the music business convention by:Larm made Bigbang the hottest name in the country at the turn of the century. The very potent combination of a certified hit single (“Girl in Oslo”) and a band with a crystal-clear front man and dynamic, rock-trio set up, soon put Bigbang on everybody’s lips and landed a deal with Warner Music. The Bigbang live experience continued to draw more and more people, to the extent that Bigbang’s 2004 double live-album (remember those?), "Radio Radio TV Sleep" became the most successful live recording ever in Norway. The album passed platinum and was more or less a second breakthrough for the band

Since then Bigbang have released a steady stream of studio albums, several of them reaching no. 1 on the national charts, and they have firmly established themselves as a household name. Front man, singer and gitarist Øystein Greni, Bassist Nikolai Hængsle and drummer Olaf Olsen are still held in high regard as a premier live act. Their unique appeal was thoroughly demonstrated when they once again returned to The Oya Festival in the summer of 2023, Norway´s premier rock/pop festival.
