About this concert
What's a glow stick party, you ask? Wear all black to the show and we'll provide you with glow sticks and other fun glow in the dark decals to decorate yourself with for the show! Kate Coleman may be front and center in Run Katie Run, but the band’s new album, Cowboy Boots with Fishnet Tights deeply reflects the community surrounding her. Its 13 Americana/roots-rock tracks cover the good, the sad, the inspired, and the tired — and everything in between — about relationships of all kinds. As RKR recorded throughout 2022, the five friends who first met at an open mic night in Georgia arranged and produced the album together, and Kate says she could see their trust in each other — and their friendships — grow as the months went by. According to Roger White (Dollywood’s Entertainment Coordinator), “Music fans everywhere need to see Run Katie Run live- they have blown it out of the water for three years in a row at Dollywood. Guests love their energy, their music, and their showmanship!” Their music is, “comfortable, warm, and inviting” (Vents Magazine) and they sprinkle in the perfect amount of creatively arranged covers- such as Me and Bobby McGee, Jolene, Zombie, White Rabbit, and With a Little Help From My Friends- to keep every newcomer in the audience delighted to be there! In 2021, the quintet of best friends released their first E.P., "RUNNING ON LOVE", with reviews and previews running in Glide and American Songwriter-and they were the featured band at Dollywood's Harvest Festival. Fast forward to 2023: the roots-rock band released their first L.P., “COWBOY BOOTS WITH FISHNET TIGHTS”, and they’re expanding their footprint by playing more festivals and concert series, touring up-and-down the East coast, and opening for A1A and Ronnie McDowell. On April 13, 2024 the band will be sharing a bill with Melissa Etheridge, Dawes, and Blind Boys of Alabama at Amplify Decatur Music Festival! ------------------- The Currys have been staking their claim within the indie music scene since 2013, when vocalist/guitarist Tommy Curry quit his teaching job and moved to Charlottesville, Virginia, to join the harmony-based folk-rock outfit newly formed by brother Jimmy Curry (vocals, guitar) and cousin Galen Curry (vocals, bass). The band have since written and released three full-length albums: their studio debut Follow (2014), called “eye-opening, but warmly familiar” by Earmilk, and whose title track is “one of the most beautiful pieces of music I’ve ever heard” (Todd Moe of NCPR); sophomore effort West of Here (2016), with its “tight-as-a-rubber-band” harmonies and “infectious” songwriting (PopMatters); and the expansive, self-produced This Side of the Glass (2019). During the pandemic, The Currys took the opportunity to explore different avenues of creativity. In 2020 the trio launched a podcast, This Side of the Mic, to showcase songs and share some laughs and insights. The band leveraged their down-time into writing and demoing dozens of new tracks, polishing their production chops and collaborating with fellow creators to expand their sound. The singles they released through 2021, such as pop/R&B track “Man On the Side” and Graceland-inspired “Last Night,” pushed the boundaries of their previous catalog. In March of 2023 the three Currys were joined by Sebastian Green (drums), Sam Whedon (guitar), and Alex Rees (keys) to begin production on their fourth studio album. Keepers, released in October 2023, represents another step in the band’s evolution, pairing the lush, three-part harmony that marks any Currys project with a more guitar-driven, indie pop aesthetic. The album pays homage to the band’s influences, with tracks evoking Sgt. Pepper’s, Jason Isbell, even dreamy pop-punk. Keepers is an honest next step for a group with an appetite for exploration and a long road ahead.

Run Katie Run Biography

RUN KATIE RUN is a roots-rock band based in Atlanta that's a combination of Kate's addiction to Dolly Parton, The Chicks, and Grace Potter with a healthy smattering of Corey's Eric Clapton inspired guitar solos, Adam's Shakey Graves influenced picking, Stephen's love for Vulfpeck-esque bass lines, and Ian's energized, Avett-Brothers-like drumming.

In 2021, they released their first E.P., "RUNNING ON LOVE",- with reviews and previews running in Glide, American Songwriter, and Vents Magazines- they played all over the metro-Atlanta area- including venues like Matilda's and Pigs and Peaches Festival- they were the featured band at Dollywood's Harvest Festival and they're Christmas song, "Fa La La La'ing In Love", was the featured single on Rock by the Sea's annual compilation Christmas album. This year the group has been working on their first full-length album and playing as many festivals and concert series as possible including Atlanta Dogwood Festival, Wire & Wood Songwriters Festival, Dollywood's Harvest Festival, and many more. Although they're a new band, they are seasoned professionals with high aspirations and live shows that keep you excited, engaged, and entertained.

"After you've been a musician for a while, you learn that the most important part of making music is to do it with people you love, respect, and who have the same motivations as you. I love this band because we're friends first and a band second. We love getting together, we love making music, and we all want to keep getting better; as people and musicians. I think our songs and shows capture the adoration we have for music and for each other."

~Kate Coleman
