About this concert
For the third time, Aleksi Campagne returns to the amazing Live from the Rock Folk Festival in Red Rock Ontario. The Live from the Rock Folk Festival is an annual music and arts festival located on the beautiful shore of Lake Superior in Red Rock, Ontario. Since the Live from the Rock Blues & Folk Society started dreaming up the first festival, with the inaugural event held in August of 2003, Live from the Rock has become an annual tradition for over 2,000 music lovers from around the region, the country and the world. It is a grassroots festival run almost 100 per cent by volunteers and, without the support of approximately 200 dedicated volunteers and the Township of Red Rock each year, the festival could not exist. Live from the Rock offers world class music on daytime workshop-style stages, as well as an evening concert lineup on the main Festival Stage. The first notes can be heard floating across the lake and don't stop until the Festival Stage closes the weekend on Sunday evening.

Aleksi Campagne Biography

Aleksi Campagne is uniquely qualified to offer a contemporary, indie-folk take on the time-honoured fiddle-singing tradition. Aleksi grew up on stage. At five years old, he began performing alongside his mother, Canadian folk icon, Connie Kaldor. At 19, Aleksi moved to Paris to study under jazz violin legend Didier Lockwood. At 21, Aleksi became the only student to have ever been accepted into the classical violin, the jazz violin and the jazz voice performance programs at McGill University. And, by 25, with only a six-song EP, Aleksi graced the lineups of some of Canada’ most beloved folk festivals over three consecutive summers (until COVID)—including the Regina Folk Festival, the Canmore Folk Festival, the Northern Lights Festival and the Live from the Rock Festival, among others.

Most recently, Aleksi received both a Canada Council Grant and a FACTOR Grant to fully fund the recording and production of his highly anticipated 10-song debut album. He then received an additional CALQ grant to create a video version of the album. This new album titled For the Giving is set to launch in both audio and video formats this summer on a Canada-wide tour!
