Destani Wolf Biography

The powerhouse vocalist, Destani Wolf forged her own path as an artist, with a genre-defying sound, impeccable vocal prowess, and authentic lyrics. From performing at the age of 15 at the iconic Great American Music Hall, to recording on over 40 albums, to traveling the world as the lead vocalist with Cirque du Soleil’s “Bazzar,” Destani’s journey is one of verve and vision.

She joined Afro-Latin hip-hop group O-maya as the lead singer and eclectic a capella group SoVosó and as a solo artist, wowing crowds on San Francisco’s preeminent stages, including Yoshi’s, Bimbo’s, SFJazz Center, and Stern Grove Festival, as well as venues internationally. In addition to her debut LP Again and Again, she was featured on recordings with World renowned latin percussionist John Santos (recorded on SFBAY GRAMMY nominated album) and alternative hip- hop group The Pharcyde.

Destani continued her journey in Los Angeles. She recorded with Matisyahu on his songs “Crossroads” and “Live Like a Warrior,” with producer KoOol KOjak. She also recorded with the Velvet Underground’s John Cale and multi-instrumentalist and producer Miguel Atwood-Ferguson. She was a featured vocalist on Jose Rizo’s 2012 GRAMMY-nominated Latin Jazz LP MongoRama and her nu-soul throwback EP Peak Away won a 2015 Independent Music Award. Crafting compositions and singing for TV and films including Disney’s “The Descendants,” Kevin Hart’s “Laugh at my Pain,” HBO’s “Momentum Generation,” “So You Think You Can Dance,” and more.

At work on another collection of original songs in between touring the world with Cirque Du Soleil. No matter where her journey takes her next, Destani honors her past, while looking to the future.

“Destani Wolf drops a soulmatic cut on us with “Nothing But The Best”… It’s a formidable offering, tapping into the heartbreak funk of masterpieces like Marvin/Leon Ware‘s I Want You for a refreshing update on the blues tradition…” - Okay Player

“The thrush creating waves…” “She’s a cross between Nina Simone and Janis Joplin.” - San Francisco Chronicle

“Wolf is an accomplished improviser… (who’s) equally effective belting out R&B as employing extended vocal techniques that can sound like a scratching turntable or a slide trombone.” - Los Angeles Times

“…the band is in especially fine form when backing the sweet and Powerful voice of Destani Wolf” - Downbeat Magazine
