Mega Ran

PGCC Day of Play featuring Mega Ran (talk at 2, concert at 7) On Saturday, April 20, the Prince George’s Community College Humanities Department will be hosting the PGCC Day of Play, a free all-day event full of workshops, video game tournaments, contests, prizes, food, and live music in our Center for Performing Arts. The lobby will be converted into an arcade, and students will be able to play video games on various arcade cabinets and high-def televisions throughout the day. Our faculty jazz band will be performing in the afternoon, and the evening will close with a free concert featuring nerdcore hip hop artist Mega Ran. Mega Ran will also give a keynote presentation that discusses the history of hip hop and video game culture in the afternoon. Free lunch and dinner will be provided to the first 300 registrants. Our workshops will provide students with the opportunity to engage directly with our faculty members in the world of music, theater, dance, art, and costume design. Students can create their own clay figurines, fused bead character wall art, and original drawings in our art workshop. Those interested in theater can attend improv sessions and can learn the basics of Cosplay and Theater tech, and will take home their own creations. Those interested in dance can take session in ballet, African World Dance, and modern repertory. Students interested in songwriting will learn the basics of song form and will workshop their own songs with our songwriting faculty. Our video game club will be hosting two separate video game tournaments in Super Smash Bros., as well as a Video Game Jeopardy tournament with Game Stop gift cards for prizes. Anyone interested in learning about our different Creative Arts programs can tour our new Center for Performing Arts as well as the entire PGCC campus with our Recruitment Team, who will also be hosting information sessions throughout the day.
