About this concert
Country and Roots artist Mamma Coal makes her first visit to Portland since relocating to Tucson, Arizona in 2018. Her career has flourished in the Southwest where she's opened for Lainey Wilson, Josh Turner and Kaitlin Butts and watched her new album Dance Hall Crush reach the top 50 on the national Americana chart. She'll present new songs and be joined by Leslie Beia ("Miss Copper") for a special Copper & Coal reunion set. They'll be backed by Tucson guitarist/vocalist Grant Bloom and local musicians Kevin Major on drums, Carmen Paradise on bass, and Luke Price on fiddle. Expect more local friends to jump up for collaboration and jamming!

This was a full night of Western Women, as the poster for the event showed. Brea Burns, Little Jane, Darci Carlson and Mamma Coal. You can't talk about one without talking about all of them. This was a sort of round table show. Each artist took the stage for 15 minutes. After they performed for their time, they all came to the stage for banter and the round table portion. As for Coal, wonderful voice. She is very talented. The other three were awesome! I've seen Burns before and I love her. Carlson and Jane were a lot of fun as well. Overall, it was an awesome night at the Dirty Drummer.

Mamma Coal Biography

Mamma Coal is a hard gigging country musician and mother of two in Tucson, Arizona. She's shared stages with notables like Lainey Wilson, Josh Turner and Kaitlin Butts. Mamma Coal writes songs meant to move people, both emotionally and physically. She has been especially inspired by Tucson's country dance community. Her newest album DANCE HALL CRUSH is a collection of original western dance songs including two-step, waltz, west-coast swing and line dances. The album reached 45th place on the Americana Music Association's Radio Albums Chart. A strong showing for an unsigned regional artist.
