Amy Hooper Music Biography
Amy Hooper is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist based in Austin, Texas. Originally trained as a flutist, her musical background includes a diverse array of genres such as classical, contemporary Christian, piano pop, Americana, and country. After years as a backup vocalist and utility player, she released a solo project in 2016 entitled ‘Winter Kind of Spring”. The original Christmas worship song “Emmanuel” released in December 2020, and the fun excursion into synthy piano pop “Toll On My Heart” released May 2021.
As a songwriter, Amy has written with The South Austin Moonlighters, Chris Beall, Lonnie Trevino, Steph MacLeod, Dossey, Sasha Hromyk, Ellyn Oliver, Solis, and more. She co-wrote the nationally charting title track “Travel Light” with Chris Beall for The South Austin Moonlighters’ 2019 Americana album, as well as fan favorites “Cartersville Rain” and “Born Lucky.” Amy’s 2016 track “Never the Twain Shall Meet” as well as 2021's "Toll on My Heart" have been selected as semi-finalists in the international Unsigned Only songwriting competition.
Amy aspires to connect with the listener on a deep emotional level to inspire, explore truth, and encourage. She also really tries to learn a new instrument every year. In 2021, she’s learning how to play her new accordion, Dorothy!
