About this concert
We're beyond excited to launch the release of Cone of Confusion's new single "Moon Dust (Unplugged)". Come down for a musical evening in a secret rooftop in Newtown with Dink and Leah (Kyoshi) on support. The rooftop's location will be revealed to ticket hodler on the day of the event. BYO Doors 6pm Music stats 7pm Cone of Confusion embarks on a stripped-back and spontaneous sonic exploration with Moon Dust (Unplugged). Cone of Confusion is an intercultural Eora/Sydney-based project known for their eclectic blend of psychedelic music, prog rock, and jazz fusion. With a commitment to musical exploration and creative spontaneity, the band continues to push the boundaries of their sonic expression, captivating audiences with raw energy and authentic performances. Cone of Confusion proudly unveils an acoustic version of their latest composition, "Moon Dust". Recorded live at Studios 301 in Eora/Sydney, Australia, on December 30, 2023, this acoustic rendition offers a stripped-back arrangement of the original composition and captures the essence of their musical camaraderie setting a new and exciting sonic direction for the band. "Moon Dust (Unplugged)” invites audiences to experience Cone of Confusion in a new light. With clean arrangements and organic instrumentation, this interpretation offers a fresh perspective and gives a hint on the band's new musical vision. Following the release of the track a video of the recording session will be released on 18 April followed by a launch show on 19 April. An alternative version of the piece will be released later in the year, in its “full” format. Composed by Jack Garzonio and Cone of Confusion, "Moon Dust (Unplugged)" features Jack Garzonio on piano instead of his usual set of synthesizers, organ and synth bass. Rémi Marchand (guitar) and Chris Blundell (tenor saxophone) refrained themselves from their characteristic use of effect pedals to let the structure and composition of this work shine in its purest form. Juan Carlos Negrete Lopez approached drums with a gentle and soothing touch of brushes. The artwork for "Moon Dust" was meticulously crafted by Rémi Marchand, adding visual depth to the auditory journey that awaits listeners. -- Dink: Four-piece Sydney-based group Dink is a fast-emerging Jazz-Fusion thrill. Currently playing a range of shows around Sydney. After debuting at The Opera House HSC ENCORE 2022, Dink forged ahead in 2023 with a multitude of gigs traversing the Sydney scene, and are continuing the ascent into 2024. Whilst offering exciting interpretations of favorites, it is Dink's striking and experimental original compositions that are known for intersecting a unique range of styles and genres - inspired by the likes of Steely Dan, Yuseff Dayes, Weather Report, and Chick Corea. Dink is at once an homage to past greats and a breakthrough into the future." Edan Walker (Saxophone/Keys) Xavier Wilson (Guitar) James Grandison (Bass) and Austin Stapleton (Drums) --- Leah (Kyoshi): Working on stolen Gadigal land, Kyoshi have emerged with a distinctive crossover sound of London jazz and psychedelic soul - that soulfully stimulates both the mind, body and spirit. Grounding their sound in nu-jazz and future-soul, the band's tight rhythms and honey drenched harmonies will send you sonically to the moon and back. Front lady Leah presents a stripped back Kyoshi set, emphasising the soul and sensitivity of her lyricism and touch. Tantalising the senses with her unique voice through her expressive and honest delivery.
