Mamimi's Cigarette Biography
The brainchild of musician and songwriter Bobby Susoseff, Mamimi’s Cigarette originally
emerged in 2020 as a creative outlet to boost his mental health. Spurred to record his music
for posterity after some encouragement from his friends and family, Mamimi’s Cigarette has
evolved at lightning speed ever since, with a unique sonic identity that balances nihilism
and absurdism through a raw, neurodivergent lens.
A distillation of influences from The Front Bottoms and Interpol to The Dead Kennedys and
BadBrains, Mamimi’s Cigarette elegantly blurs the lines between alternative, indie punk,
and post-punk, providing a backdrop for lyrics which act as an ode to Bobby’s love of
obscure media and hobbies, while also providing a vulnerable, relatable insight into his
personal stories of love, loss, and mental health.
Unlike many other musical projects, Mamimi’s Cigarette was created with a definite end
point—to come to a natural end after 4 albums. With two singles, one of which was
featured on Impulsiv radio, a slew of live performances including a slot on SoCal Indie
Musicians’ WestGhost Tour, and a spot in the top 10 opening acts for Audacity’s We Can
Survive benefit show all already under his belt, the project is now definitively out of its
infancy. Keeping momentum at an all time high, a new EP is currently in the works, with a
full-length LP and a range of live dates slated for announcement in 2024.
