Samuel Nicholson Biography

Samuel is a Scottish, London-based Indie Rock frontman, musician and collaborator. Set alight by Motown records in the car with his mother, corrupted by hard rock records handed down by his father and formed by his own journeys into Jazz, Folk and Experimental Music of decades past, he is a cathartic songwriter, an impassioned singer and a hungry guitarist.

His first album "If You Be My" (2015), a young reflection on masculine vulnerability, enjoyed the attention of KCRW's Jason Kramer on his weekly radio show in the US. His sophomore LP, "Missing Persons Report" (2020) offered an evolved sonic palette with newfound collaborator and producer, Caradog Jones and has received generous online reviews and distribution by Mahogany. 2022 has begun with a sold-out full band show at The Old Blue Last and promises a busy live schedule with his third LP, “Birthday Suit” due for release in 2022.

He is a regular on the London music scene and has enjoyed performances around the UK and Europe both as a solo performer and supporting musician. Sam is also currently the lead guitarist for space-folk troubadour Jeremy Tuplin, one-half of Lo-fi bedroom duo, ‘Beach’, bass player for the incomparable ‘Jemma Freeman & The Cosmic Something’ and lead guitarist for Scottish indie darling, ‘Frankie Morrow’.

“The subtleties in [Susan] are simply stellar, accompany that with a well-paced flow and an exceptionally pleasing layered kaleidoscope of guitars and you have a lovely recipe for success.” – Jonah Holiday, IMR

“With love from KCRW already in the bag it won't be long until more people fall in love with Samuel Nicholson's works of art.” – It’s All Indie

“We are in love with Samuel Nicholson’s vocal tone and nuances. This is the kind of voice that makes a song stand out both as a story and in power. “ – Where The Music Meets
