ABOUT THIS SHOW The Making of A Queen is the untold story about the creation of the dynamic dance troupe, Body Confidence for Queens (BCQ). ABOUT BODY CONFIDENCE FOR QUEENS Body Confidence for Queens is a BIPOC, woman-led LGBTQ community organization. Created in 2020 by MochaMocha2.0, BCQ is a sanctuary for those searching to find love within themselves and in their bodies. Our goal is to change the way society sees beauty, no matter the shape, size, race, or gender, anyone can be beautiful. BCQ’s method of releasing is through dance, we use dance as an outlet to release trauma and form closer bonds with our bodies. Through daily affirmations, mirror work, journaling, freestyle movement sessions and our dance classes, BCQ elevates the community by providing a safe space for self exploration and freedom from judgement. BCQ's first Body Positive Burlesque Showcase debuted in July 2021, titled The Rebirth of Women. Since then we’ve been hosting annual burlesque shows featuring upcoming performers in the community. This year BCQ is curating our first student showcase which will provide a larger platform for emerging artists to be seen and they’ll get the opportunity to study under BCQ’s mentorship. To this day, BCQ is excited to provide a platform that celebrates bodies of all shapes and sizes. May we continue to promote body confidence and self love amongst all!
