Adria Jackson Biography

Adria Jackson is a Canadian classical Celtic singer/folk harper reminiscent of Loreena McKennitt and early Joni Mitchell. Her natural and pure lyric soprano voice paired with her hand crafted harp skillfully brings traditional ballads and songs to life. She released her debut traditional folk album Troubadour this past summer. Troubadour is filled with traditional Celtic, timeless originals, Canadiana and folk inspired classical songs drawing on her Celtic, English and Scandinavian heritage.

After living throughout Canada and the UK, Adria now lives with her family in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she is soaking up the East Coast Gaelic culture and fresh sea air. This past summer while touring in Nova Scotia, Troubadour climbed nationally to #5 on the Earshot folk/roots/blues charts. In July, Adria was the most requested artist on Scotlander Radio (Inverness, Scotland). She was a feature artist at the Ancient River Festival, the prestigious Helen Creighton Folk Club and Side Door by the Sea (Side Door Access). You could also find her singing with her harp in historic sites, gardens and seaside boardwalks.

Before emerging as a traditional folk singer/harper, Adria was an experienced classical performer and educator. She performed in recitals across Canada, England & Wales. Highlights of Adria’s time performing in the UK include rehearsing at Handel’s historic house in London with Dei Gratia, early music group, singing with the Philharmonic Cambridge Choir at King’s College Chapel, Cambridge, and one of children’s choir to performing at the Royal Albert Hall. She ran singing workshops in primary schools in London for Sing Up plus ran a bustling private vocal studio. All of these past music experience shape Adria’s current live performances.

Adria recently recorded Troubadour, a full length album of traditional folk and classical song with the generous contribution of Strathcona County, Albert, Canada. She hold a Bachelor of Arts with distinction in Music(voice) Brock University.
