About this concert
Don't miss Little Feat - Can't Be Satisfied Tour with Special Guests Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley LIVE! at South Shore Music Circus in Cohassett, MA on August 22, 2024! The members of Little Feat emerged from the pandemic with their sense of humor, chops, and collective joy in playing intact. Over the past three years, they’ve focused tours on their epic live album "Waiting for Columbus" and re-issues of their second through fourth albums ("Sailin’ Shoes," "Dixie Chicken," and "Feats Don’t Fail Me Now." Audience response has been rapturous. The band builds on a deep, over 50-year history. Little Feat used a combination of elite musicianship and brilliant, idiosyncratic songwriting to create a repertoire that transcends all boundaries. California rock, funk, folk, jazz, country and rockabilly mixed with New Orleans swamp boogie led to a powerful sound that has kept the audience dancing for decades. Their groove – in songs like “Dixie Chicken,” “Spanish Moon,” “Fat Man in the Bathtub,” and “Feats Don’t Fail Me Now” – was so infectious it allowed them to endure and press on even when losing their founder, Lowell George, and founding drummer, Richie Hayward. They’re in top form now with Scott Sharrard on lead/vox and Tony Leone on drums/vox, and with founder Bill Payne on keys/vox, Fred Tackett on guitars/vox, Kenny Gradney on bass, and Sam Clayton on percussion/vox. Now it’s time for something new. Their creativity has been renewed, and 2024 will see the release of the brand-new "Sam’s Place," in which Feat backs their linchpin conga player, Sam Clayton, on vocals. The album features a new song, “Milk Man,” by Sam, Scott, and Fred. There’s a live version of “Got My Mojo Working.” Sam and Bonnie Raitt duet on Muddy’s “Long Distance Call.” "Sam’s Place" scratches a deep itch. Sam added, “I'm very happy because I was never expecting anything like that. I mean, I have wanted to, but I just wasn't expecting it to come to the fruition. It was a long wait, but it’s satisfying.” ::::::::::::::::::::::::: "Rob Ickes & Trey Hensley shred..." -Rolling Stone "Two musical phenoms" -NPR "An acoustic firestorm...Ickes & Hensley are changing the rules..." -Vintage Guitar "Dual lightning strikes in a bottle…" -Guitar Player "Two of the finest musicians playing today" -No Depression Take Rob Ickes, the most decorated musician in IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Awards history with 15 Dobro Player of the Year wins and former founder of the bluegrass "supergroup" Blue Highway, and 2023 IBMA Guitar Player of the Year Trey Hensley, a Tennessee-born guitar prodigy identified as “Nashville's hottest young player” by Acoustic Guitar magazine and you have a powerhouse GRAMMY®-nominated acoustic duo that has electrified the acoustic music scene. Excellent show by two incredible and versatile musicians that expand beyond the standard bluegrass genre while still staying true to their acoustic instruments. The folks in Laramie were very fortunate to have such a quality performance, and it was free.

Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley Biography

Take a 15-time IBMA (International Bluegrass Music Association) Resophonic Guitar Player of the Year and a Tennessee-born guitar prodigy called “Nashville's hottest young player” by Acoustic Guitar magazine, and you have Rob Ickes and Trey Hensley, a powerhouse acoustic duo that has electrified the acoustic music scene around the world. Known for their white-hot picking and world class musicianship, as well as their soulful stone country vocals, the GRAMMY®-nominated duo cleverly and uniquely melds bluegrass, country, blues, rock, jamgrass, and string band music of all kinds to create a signature blend of music that defies restrictions of genre. NPR has called Ickes and Hensley "two musical phenoms"; Vintage Guitar raved they're an "acoustic firestorm" who "are changing the rules"; Acoustic Guitar describes their sound as "steel-string bluegrass with all the intensity of rock 'n' roll" and No Depression observed they're "two of the finest musicians playing today." Ickes and Hensley have shared the stage or collaborated with Tommy Emmanuel, Taj Mahal, Vince Gill, David Grisman, Jorma Kaukonen, Marty Stuart, and Steve Wariner—all admirers of the duo. Ickes, former founding member of bluegrass "supergroup" Blue Highway and highly sought-after Dobro master, has graced the recordings and concerts of artists such as Earl Scruggs, Merle Haggard, Alison Krauss, Tony Rice and more. Hensley, who earned his first IBMA Guitar Player of the Year nomination in 2020, made his Grand Ole Opry debut at the age of 11 (thanks to an invite from Marty Stuart with Earl Scruggs...the video of the event has surpassed 1 million views on YouTube) and has appeared on stage with the likes of Johnny Cash, Peter Frampton and Old Crow Medicine Show. All three of the Compass Records albums released by Ickes and Hensley have received widespread acclaim, including their debut BEFORE THE SUN GOES DOWN, which garnered a GRAMMY® nomination, and the combo's most recent release WORLD FULL OF BLUES, which features collaborations with Vince Gill and Taj Mahal. Ickes and Hensley recently teamed with guitar master Tommy Emmanuel for a very special EP, TOMMY EMMANUEL - ACCOMPLICE SERIES VOL. I WITH ROB ICKES AND TREY HENSLEY. The EP was released May 7, 2021 to critical acclaim. The three high-powered guitar virtuosos performed together on the Grand Ole Opry on May 8, 2021 and from famed Nashville venue 3rd & Lindsley on May 9, 2021 via worldwide broadcasts to celebrate the release of the project. Ickes and Hensley are busy at work on their fourth duo record for Compass Records with GRAMMY®-winning producer Brent Maher.
