SYTË Biography
Love at first sight created SYTË, New York City-based duo composed of Nita Kaja (singer) and Drin Tashi (producer/engineer). SYTË—meaning “eyes” in Albanian—write and produce their own music with the love they have for their craft, and each other.
SYTË’s name pays homage to the pair’s heritage; Kosovo is where Nita spent her summer breaks, connecting to her roots and falling in love with the local music scene that encouraged her own desire to perform. It was also where she met Prishtina native, Drin, during break in 2016, with whom she immediately sparked a romantic and creative partnership. The singer was born and raised in New York, to where she quickly returned after that fateful summer, and the couple continued a long-distance relationship. During that time, they wrote a bulk of their debut 5-track EP. Nita then relocated to Kosovo altogether, where SYTË began developing their identity and forging their musical path.
Now settled in New York, SYTË has lodged its footing in the city’s music scene. With a full live band, their electrifying performances have landed them festival main stage slots such as Sunny Hill Festival, Pop-Kultur, and Manifesta Biennale.
Balanced contrast is what defines SYTË. Extrovert and introvert, sun and moon, right and left brain—Nita and Drin’s opposing yet complementary natures inspire their complex sound. The duo has created their own colorful alloy of alternative R&B and art-pop, fusing captivating hooks with a laid-back indie style.
