About this concert
ALL AGES SHOW Bitch is a longstanding queer music icon who Yahoo Entertainment called “a feminist force that the world needs now more than ever” when she released “Bitchcraft,” her 9th studio album, on the legendary label Kill Rock Stars in 2022. Since releasing “Bitchcraft,” she has toured nationally, headlining over 100 shows as well as opening for Indigo Girls and Ani Difranco. She will bring her one woman show “Hey Bitch!” To Post Office Cabaret in Provincetown, MA every Wednesday this Summer. “Hey Bitch!” is a funny, upbeat and moving story of how a young quiet girl goes on to name herself Bitch. Woven together by songs mostly from “Bitchcraft,” she will play her electric violin and take the audience on “A Musical Journey To Planet Bitch.” The show is all ages! Bitch first got her start in the late 90s as one half of the punk dyke duo Bitch and Animal. During a pivotal Summer of shows in Provincetown, Bitch and Animal were picked up by Ani Difranco who took them on tour and released two albums on her label Righteous Babe Records. After going solo, Bitch played herself in John Cameron Mitchell’s “Shortbus,” (Hedwig and The Angry Inch), released solo albums on Kill Rock Stars and her own label Short Story Records, and produced and released two albums of her folk idol Ferron. Recently, Bitch played a role in Alison Bechdel’s Audible podcast “Dykes To Watch Out For,” played violin on Margaret Cho’s fourth-coming album, and is working with Joey Soloway (Transparent, I Love Dick) to develop “Hey Bitch!” Into a multi-character musical. She also collaborates with Faith Soloway (Transparent, A Transparent Musical, Jesus Has Two Mommies) on a comedy project “One Long Earring,” and plans to release a new version of “Pussy Manifesto” this Summer, paying homage to Provincetown as a crucial place in her artistic journey, as well as where Bitch and Animal originally wrote the song. “Bitchcraft is a masterpiece” Amy Ray, Indigo Girls

Bitch Biography

Bitch makes witchy poet pop. She does it with violins and synthesizers. The resulting songs from her new album Bitchcraft, which comes out on Kill Rock Stars on February 4th, 2022, are heartbreaking, spectral, political and beautiful. She is based in Los Angeles after living in New York for many years.. She’s a longstanding queer music icon who has released 9 studio albums.

Bitch first achieved notoriety as one half of the queer folk duo Bitch & Animal. The band went on tour with Ani DiFranco, whom they met while playing a gig at a pizza shop in Provincetown. In the mid 2000s, Bitch went solo, and shared stages with the Indigo Girls, acted in John Cameron Mitchell’s film Shortbus, and licensed some of her songs to The L Word.

Bitchcraft, her first album in 8 years, is one that makes you think and makes you dance. It was recorded in LA, Austin, Provincetown, and Boston. Full of violins, synths, and huge vocals, the record is neon pink and in your face. It’s Joni Mitchell set to a click track; it’s queer Cyndi Lauper and will hex you with its brilliance.
