About this concert
Everything in Jon McLaughlin’s life makes its way into his music, whether he’s conscious of it or not. The artist, raised in Indiana and based in Nashville, brings all of his experiences and beliefs into each song he creates, something that is especially true now that he’s the father of two young girls.
Jon released his debut album, Indiana, in 2007 on Island Def Jam, attracting fans with his heartfelt, hook-laden songwriting and impassioned delivery. He’s released six full-lengths in the years since and revealed a true evolution in both his piano playing and singing. He’s played shows with Billy Joel, Kelly Clarkson and Adele, collaborated with longtime friend Sara Bareilles, co-written with Demi Lovato and even performed at the Academy Awards in 2008.
Jon’s album, Like Us, dropped in October of 2015 via Razor & Tie, and he spent the past few years touring extensively before heading back into his Nashville studio to work on new music. Jon released a Christmas EP in 2017 titled Red & Green with two originals and his take on a few holiday classics. In November of 2018 Jon released his album Angst & Grace which features “Still My Girl” written for his youngest daughter.
Another project started in 2018 is his Dueling Pianos video series. Every episode features a new guest artist and they perform mashups of never been heard arrangements.
In Fall of 2019 Jon released an instrumental piano album titled Mood. This record demonstrates Jon's artistry and captivates his talent as a pianist. In May 2020 the second edition of the project was released.
In August Jon put out his first Pop release Things I Say To Myself since Angst & Grace with immediate fan favorites A Break Up Song, and People Like You. Jon will wrap up 2020 with a Holiday EP release titled "Christmas Time".
As with everything he does, Jon’s goal is to create connections. He wants to translate his experiences and ideas into music that reaches fans everywhere. His passion for music and playing is evident in each note he plays.
Leo Sawikin
Leo Sawikin is a NYC-born and bred singer/songwriter, who debuted as a solo recording artist with his 2021 album, Row Me Away. While Leo often records from his home studio in New York’s Little Italy, over the last year he traveled to Seattle to work with the legendary Phil Ek, who produced breakthrough albums by Built to Spill, Modest Mouse, The Shins, and Fleet Foxes. Of the ten tracks Leo recorded with Phil, four have already been released and the rest are on the way, building up to a full album release later in 2024. Toward year end 2023, Leo toured City Wineries (and other venues) throughout the South and Northeast opening for Jon McLaughlin (“Beautiful Disaster”) and culminating in a thrilling hometown show at New York’s City Winery Main Stage.

As always, Jon is a class act. I love that he's been touring with just himself and the piano these past couple of years. It's very intimate and he gets to really showcase his talents in an "unplugged" setting, coming up with new arrangements in solo piano accompaniment for his signature songs. His voice is like a nice bourbon, woodsy and raspy and rough around the edges, but always goes down buttery smooth. Paired with his virtuosic classical-piano-level chops on a beautiful Steinway grand piano, and his quirky deadpan storytelling in between songs, you really just feel like you're in the room at a jam session with an old friend, and that's one of the best feelings in the world. Seeing Jon is always a treat.
