About this concert
Welcome to the Been Looking For Single Launch! Join us at The Merri Creek Tavern for a night of great music and great company as Jeremy Beggs & The Long Road Travellers launch Jeremy's new single Been Looking For. Joining them will be Geelong's finest songwriter, Nathan Seeckts. Jeremy Beggs "Been Looking For" marks Jeremy Beggs' third single release in the past 12 months, a collaboration with fellow Ballaratian Anthony Brooks. The song, originally penned in 2019 for a different project that stalled, feels like uncovering a hidden gem. Rediscovering it about 18 months ago ignited a creative resurgence in Jeremy, prompting him to infuse it with a distinct Americana flavour. There's a poignant symmetry in the significance of the title, especially during this phase of revitalisation. The act of rediscovery, whether it's of something tangible or a connection with someone, can be as fulfilling as the initial burst of creation. "Rich, expressive, and emotional!" is how Sunburnt Country Music described Jeremy Beggs' recent release. After years of shying away from authentically expressing his true calling, this self-taught artist is finding solace and connection on the very stages that once filled him with dread. Instead of succumbing to fear, Jeremy is drawing strength from it, emerging as an artist to watch in Australian Americana. Nathan Seeckts Seemingly hewn from Bellarine Peninsula basalt, Seeckts’ vocal is imbued with all the heart worn grit of Steve Earle, grounding songs that are alternately heaving, shivering and jangling with feeling. Whether punching out a heartland belter or immersed in a nostalgic reverie, Nathan Seeckts delivers immense humanity, compassion, and catharsis. Nathan's debut album The Heart Of The City was nominated as Country Album of The Year at 2019’s Music Victoria Awards. The album featured all the qualities that make Nathan Seeckts a standout artist in the Australian Americana scene; his ability to craft engaging stories of love and loss, his combination of alt-country and folk, and his commanding and indelible voice, which is equal parts gravel and passion. 2023 saw the release of his highly-anticipated follow up album Something Rare and Beautiful, which features 10 tracks of earnest, heartland storytelling. Seeckts returned to Union Street Studio in Melbourne to collaborate with producer Roger Bergodaz, assembling many of the key players from The Heart Of The City sessions to help build upon the sound and energy he captured in the studio for album number one.
