Amandante is de eerste opera van de Nederlands-Oekraïense componist Maxim Shalygin. Shalygins muziek is avontuurlijk omnivoor en toch geworteld in traditie. Dikwijls heeft zijn werk de spirituele ondertoon die in meer muziek uit Oost-Europa is te horen. Amandante is een kameropera geïnspireerd door Symposion, Plato’s eeuwenoude dialoog over de lust, de liefde en het verlangen.
