JonnyZ Biography
From New Ulm, Minnesota - land of the polka. Inspired by his Dad’s accordion playing, he picked up the guitar at age 15, and the piano in college.
Before moving out to California he toured and recorded with the Chris Herriges Project where they opened up for big acts such as Leon Russell, Steppenwolf, Badfinger, and Grand Funk Railroad. Also played keyboards in a band with former Prince and the New Power Generation drummer Michael Bland, where they had a regular gig at the now shuttered “Biscuits and Blues” in downtown Minneapolis, just blocks away from First Avenue
Also fronted a band called "Gel,” an alt rock band voted “Best Rock Band” in the City Pages Readers Choice Awards.
Jonny headed to Los Angeles for greener and warmer pastures to pursue all of the music and media opportunities Hollywood had to offer. He is also a videographer and editor and stumbled upon best of my love while opening for them acoustic at one of their shows. Being a longtime friend of David Daskal's and their need for a keyboard player, he joined the band. Jonny sings harmonies, plays piano, organ, electric piano, clavinet, strings and any other sounds you might hear, along with electric guitar, acoustic guitar and 12 string.
