Get ready, get set Australia for Gavin Wood’s Countdown Live in Concert. Be transported back to the heady days of Countdown, Australia’s favourite TV music show, in a two-set show extravaganza!
For an incredible 13 years, Countdown showcased the finest from the music world both locally and internationally. Gavin Wood was the golden-voiced announcer and occasional compere counting us into the show every Sunday night at 6pm. And Gavin Wood is back again to compere the Countdown Live show and bring you jam-packed performances from his iconic guest stars.
There’ll be interviews and stories, not to mention unpredictable shenanigans – it’s the Countdown we all know and love!!!
The star-studded guest performers will belt out their own top 10 hits with the incredible Countdown Orchestra and will also perform other epic tunes from Countdown.
For a nostalgic night of entertainment, fun and the awesome songs of your youth, Gavin Wood’s Countdown Live in Concert will have you reminiscing back to those Sunday nights in front of the TV!

Been waiting 35 years for this gig and did not disappoint in the slightest. ‘New Romantics’ opened and were first-class with an awesome set list from the 80’s.
Steve Williams and Co. followed and opened with ‘Ain’t I Good Enough’ - no better song to open with. Tim Watson (Taxiride) and Beck Blake’s vocals were perfect and Williams’ pink guitar was just as good as it was 30+ years ago. Left the Arkaba very satisfied and can’t wait for their next gig in February…

Wa Wa Nee Biography
Wa Wa Nee are a funk/synth-pop/soul group from Sydney Australia. Paul Gray (singer/keyboardist), brother Mark Gray (bass guitar), Steve Williams (lead guitar) and Chris Sweeney (drums) formed in the 1980's and had hit singles such as Stimulation, Sugar Free, One and One and Blush as well as two hit albums, the self-titled debut Wa Wa Nee followed up by Blush. The band also had a loyal fanbase regularly attending live shows.
Recently, Paul Gray has been performing Wa Wa Nee songs on the recent Back to the 80's reunion tours along with Pseudo Echo and Scott Carne from Kids in the Kitchen (they are other Australian band contemporaries).
The name of the leader singer is Paul Gray and he was born in Sydney, Australia. His influences are Brian Canham from Pseudo Echo and Mondo Rock.
