Tristan Copelan

Tristan Copelan is an American drummer originally from Minneapolis MN who now operates in Los Angeles CA.

Having parents that work in the music industry, Tristan was introduced to road life, tour buses and backstage at venues across the United States starting at 3 days old. He grew up watching the inner workings of concerts, living life on the road and around the musicians from bands like Rob Zombie, Josh Groban, Seether, Evanescence, Disturbed, Green Day, Morrissey, Daughtry, Hollywood Undead and many others. They helped solidify his love of music and deep desire to create. Drummer Daren Pfiefer particularly captivated Tristan and ignited within him a dream to become a professional drummer. As his love for drumming grew, he began taking lessons from local teachers in MN. His first live performance was a 5th grade talent show, which he won and went on to win every year throughout his middle school career. He attended School of Rock in Eden Prairie MN and played in high school band/jazz bands. Drumming & practicing became Tristan’s life. After attending a summer program called Summershot at Musicians Institute in Hollywood CA 2 years in a row Tristan moved to California, enrolled in the drum program at Musicians Institute & graduated with honors.

Along the way Tristan has met many people who have helped shape him and continue to influence his drumming techniques today. Private drum instructor Dave Schmalenberger who was instrumental early on in Tristan’s drum studies. Rock drummer Robin Diaz who took Tristan under his guidance & grew into Tristan’s lifelong mentor. Jamal Moore who gave Tristan his first live performance in front of an audience. Johnny Tempesta for his continued support in ALL things drums and Dirk Verbeuren who has provided Tristan with lessons/tools he will use throughout his career. Tristan is blessed and thankful to have so many people in his life who support him.
