About this concert
A son of Portuguese parents, João Caetano was born and raised in Macau. With an international career as a percussionist and producer, João is part of the legendary Jazz-Funk band "Incognito", having completed 8 world tours and recorded 7 albums with the band. He has collaborated with names such as Chaka Khan, Mario Biondi, Anastacia, Citrus Sun, STR4TA, Ala.ni Leona Lewis, and Jessie J. Performing as a solo artist, João Caetano reinvents Portuguese music of traditional Roots, Fado and Portuguese traditional instruments, with a fresh perspective incorporating the Bombos from Lavacolhos, Portuguese guitar and accordion. He is currently working with leading Portuguese artists such as Rui Veloso, Slow J, Dino D'Santiago, Tatanka, Jorge Fernando (Amália Rodrigues guitarist). João has adapted the lyrics of poet Paulo Abreu de Lima with whom he worked extensively before his death in 2021, having worked with the likes of Mariza, Ana Moura and António Zambujo, along with a Portuguese version of Sting’s "A Thousand Years" with the special appearance of Mariza. On the 7th of July João headlined the Festival of Fado and Flamenco of Badajoz 2022. 2023 saw João headline FFFB with members of Paco de Lucia's band.
