About this concert
Riley Burns In the heart of the alternative country and indie folk scene lies a band that's more than just a musical act; it's a collective journey of growth and evolution. Founded in 2015 as a solo project by Riley Burns, this group has transformed into a collaborative effort, with each member adding their unique flair to the mix. The band draws inspiration from a diverse range of artists, including the likes of Jason Isbell, Ruston Kelly, and Jackson Browne, blending elements of folk rock, indie rock, and Americana/Canadiana into their own distinct sound. Their lineup features a rotating cast of talented musicians, each contributing to the rich tapestry of their music. At the core of this musical collective is Riley Burns, the driving force behind the project. Originally a solo endeavour, Burns found solace in expressing his thoughts through music, gradually assembling a band to breathe life into his compositions. Collin Carnegie, the guitarist and vocalist, joined the band in 2020, bringing his expertise with the six-string guitar and acoustic guitar to the table. Chris McDonald, on the other hand, has been a staple of the group since its inception in 2015, wielding his electric guitar with finesse. Shaun Byck holds down the low end with his bass guitar, adding depth and groove to the band's sound since 2019. And behind the drum kit is Robert Patterson, who joined in 2020, providing the rhythmic backbone with his dynamic drumming. Together, this ensemble creates music that transcends genres, weaving stories of love, loss, and the human experience. From their humble beginnings to playing big shows and streaming over 50k on their hit song "Drinkin'," the band has come a long way, thanks to their dedication and passion for their craft. But their journey doesn't stop there. With a focus on live performances and building a strong fan base, the band is constantly evolving, exploring new sounds and pushing the boundaries of their creativity. Through highlight videos, live streams, and collaborative engagement, they invite listeners to join them on this musical odyssey. So next time you're looking for a taste of local live music, look no further than this band. With their infectious energy and soul-stirring melodies, they're sure to leave you wanting more. Mark your calendars for March 28th, as they take the stage at Overflow Brewery. It's an event you won't want to miss. Born and raised in the quaint town of Chapeau, QC, deep in the Ottawa Valley, Jones's music is a fusion of country-folk roots with a modern indie-rock twist, reflecting her upbringing and spirited attitude. Jones, also known as Colleen Jones, finds inspiration in life's everyday musings, whether it's the beauty of her Gatineau surroundings, navigating through grief and loss, or even the frustrations of supply-chain issues during the Covid era, all delivered with a twinkle in her eye. Her songs explore themes of nostalgia, longing, introspection, daydreaming, and restlessness, resonating with audiences on a deeply emotional level. Formerly the bassist and backup vocalist for Ottawa dream-pop outfit Sparklesaurus, Jones embarked on her solo journey in 2020 under the moniker Leeny Jones, accompanied by her band, Leeny & The Boys. With influences ranging from Angel Olsen to Big Thief, her music blends elements of alt-country, indie, rock, and folk, creating a unique sonic landscape that captivates listeners. Join Leeny Jones and her band for an unforgettable performance featuring tracks from her debut EP "Burn Out", released in January 2024, alongside some of her latest unreleased tracks. Expect an evening filled with soul-stirring melodies, evocative storytelling, and infectious energy that will leave you craving for more.
