Known for her deeply meaningful songs that explore personal and spiritual growth, Donata’s work is a heartfelt reflection on the transformative power of facing dark emotions. Berlin-based singer-songwriter and producer Donata presents her second full length album Alchemy which she releases on her own imprint Donata Music on April 26th 2024. This will be her first solo headline show in Berlin. Born in Bonn, Germany, Donata discovered her passion for music at a young age. As a gifted singer-songwriter, she began crafting heartfelt tunes that reflected her innate ability to explore the spectrum of human emotions through music at 13. Donata pursued studies in Vocals at the Conservatory of Music in Amsterdam. It was here that she crossed paths with like-minded musicians, forming the award-winning indie-pop group NOSOYO. Reforming as a duo and relocating to Berlin, NOSOYO released two critically acclaimed indie-pop albums, earning the VIA VUT Awards for Best Newcomer Band (2017) and Listen to Berlin Awards for their song Glitter (2019). Their single Highness not only showcased Donata's powerful songwriting and vocals but also secured the duo's place in the indie-pop scene. After the release of their second album Loud & Shameless the duo decided to take a break. Donata continued her musical exploration, delving into solo endeavours. Her debut solo album, Imaginary Land (2023, Humming Records) emerged as an introspective collection of songs that brought the unseen to light and reflected the hope of new beginnings. The indie-folk album was created in a lonesome yet magical songwriting process against the backdrop of the stormy Dutch seashore. Donata co-produced her debut album with award-winning producer Gunnar Örn Tynes (from the Icelandic band múm) and collaborated with Jasja J. Offermans on bass, Viktor Orri Árnason on string arrangements, and Wouter Rentema and Magnús Trygvason Eliassen on drums and percussion. Mastering was done by Grammy Award nominated engineer Zino Mikorey. Donata's latest venture, Alchemy, started with the release of the single A Song About Being in Love which was selected as part of the Listen To Berlin Compilation 23/24. The album was created against the backdrop of Berlin's vibrant music scene, the album features hitmaker co-writer and producer Derek D. Boom (on the track Moon Will Fall) and an ensemble of collaborators, including Wouter Rentema (Façade, Lemonade), Damian Press (A Song About Being in Love, All There is to Do), featuring Jasja J. Offermans on bass and Mischa Porte on drums. Donata’s brother, Daniel Kramarz, is also involved in the mixing several songs of the album. “The process of this album has been very different compared to the first album, much more playful and spontaneous. I have worked with lots of different producers, never planned any particular outcome and suddenly there was an album in my hands. It felt very natural, and this time I have produced even more by myself, challenging myself to try out new ways of working - for example Long Time has been recorded live (guitar & vocals at the same time without click or anything else). It has been a gift to connect with so many amazing artists and to even re-connect to my brother on a musical level, as I have worked with him to record my very first EP at 19 years old. The circle is full, which suits the theme of alchemization” Donata will be supported by 2 musicians onstage.
