Erotic Market Biography

What do deities have in common, except that they secretly influence our destinies? From one album to the next, from one concert to the next, Erotic Market has always offered music with a healing magic. While this recipe has remained intact since her debut, the artist now presents a new alchemy, one that goes beyond the deepest wounds to bandage and heal, in the form of what is perhaps her finest album, Marla Pillow, to be released in early 2025.

Behind her bangs and a name that plays on the commodification of bodies, Marine Pellegrini has more than nine albums to her credit with N'Relax and Polymorphie, her past bands. Her musicality, rythm and melodies are so instinctive that you'd think she'd stepped out of a precious music box. A scholar of all genres, and especially when it comes to jazz, trip-hop or electronic music, the artist with the soulful voice inherited from the last century seems to build her universe in a secret place, away from the glare of the industry, a sort of mysterious hut at the bottom of the garden - a world where Lana Del Rey, Lianne La Havas and Julia Stone would have merged.

Marine Pellegrini, aka Erotic Market, is one of those artists who has surrendered herself to her audience in the name of an inner battle: the one who takes to the stag e is first and foremost the modest young girl who impulsively began solfeggio after her philosophy studies, the shy teenage tomboy obsessed with Erykah Badu and the Fugees, the enchanting artist with words that count and punk impulses who no longer needs to raise her voice to get her message across. Over time, her candor becomes an unstoppable musical tool: her voice poised, her words adjusted, Erotic Market retains her wildest side in her use of percussion, her eroded grain and her metaphors that sound as if they've escaped from a poetry notebook.

From the eponymous Erotic Market, Blahblahrians, Queendoms, Boredoms, Boredoms & Heartstrings - the album of Boredoms covers with a string quartet - her previous opuses, to Marla Pillow, her new album, she transfigures her intimate revolts and warmly challenges a cold, mechanical contemporary era, our ways of being in the world, in love and in society But it was her affirmation of a proudly ordinary,
reassuring yet no less regal femininity that led her to Marla Pillow, her new double, her doppelgänger. The same one that now enables her to

tell the story of motherhood and mourning, the transformation of mud into gold, and the acceptance and resilience we feel when we wake up from a night of intertwined dreams.

Always on the move, the singer who now listens to the likes of Frank Ocean, SZA, Luidji and Disiz, now takes to the stage and spent two months in the La Ciergerie studio with her co-composer Romain Montiel, a multi-instrumentalist trained at the CNSMD in Lyon, and producer Julien Jussey, a pianist by training and long-time collaborator, to find the magical formula for Marla Pillow. With this organic album, which promises sweet pagan celebrations, Erotic market signs a return abundant with light.
