Wild Roots Rising Biography
Wild Roots Rising is an indie-folk band based in the Southeast United States. It is led by songwriters, vocalists, and instrumentalists Julia Houghton and Olivia Moore. Their music consists of unique arrangements and complex harmonies, combined with acoustic
instruments and meaningful lyrics. They take influences from many genres such as Americana,Classical,Appalachian Folk, Indie-Rock, Latin and more. They are known for sharing songs that create a beautiful, uplifting aura for the listener.
WRR released their self-titled, debut album in September of 2021. They have been touring their album throughout the U.S. in many cities including New Orleans, Washington D.C., New York City, Chicago, Atlanta, Asheville and Memphis. Their most recent release is a single called "Water" whichpremiered along side their debut

Julia and Olivia are life-long friends who met at a performing arts highschool where they studied classical music. While the two women love andcherish their classical education, their hearts pulled them into the directionof folk music. Many of their classical influences still appear in theirsongwriting, adding a beautiful and unexpected edge to the simplicity offolk music.
Enviornementalism and social justice activism are deeply important toOlivia and Julia and these themes often present themselves in the music.They create a space on stage to share and talk about current issues.Together they bring strong intentions to create a positive change in theworld through the power of music and community.
