Solgyres Biography
Unruly As Nature 𓃬
Solarpunk reggae movement out of New Haven CT, Solgyres embarked on their musical odyssey when siblings Scott (bass guitar & vocals) and Skyelyn Bernier (keys & vocals) began writing and recording music together in 2020. Fueled by a lifetime of immersion in roots reggae, jazz, and a myriad of other influences, they crafted a sound driven by pulsating bass lines and lush harmonies. The siblings later relocated to the UConn Storrs area where they expanded their musical arsenal with Zach Neuneker (drums), Lucia Magnuson (vocals), Jake Russell (rhythm guitar), and Logan Tichnor (lead guitar). Solgyres sparked the live music scene at UConn and continued to hit the underground circuit hard throughout CT and MA, shaking the local scene with their dynamic live performances and innovative lyricism. Featuring a triumphant horn section comprised of third sibling Spencer ‘Bez’ Bernier (trumpet), Ryan Adams (tenor sax), and Frank DeCrescenzo (trombone), Solgyres is set to release their eagerly anticipated self-produced studio album on April 5, 2024. The album features hand drumming by Sol Ramirez, and a vocal appearance by G. Love of G. Love and Special Sauce on their track “Immortal”. Solgyres is ready to ignite a musical revolution in the reggae scene and beyond. Join the movement.
