Mike Berman Biography
Rooted in the folk-rock sound of California, Mike explores his environment through songs like Drive that
echo the joy of car culture juxtaposed with Van Nuys telling the true story of a local figure who dressed
like Superman and died on the streets of an LA suburb. Angels Flight is a mystical tale of ghosts and
angels across a noir cityscape, while It Should Be Raining Today ruminates on facing sorrow and
loneliness under blue skies.
Mike’s sound takes its inspiration from the music he grew up with -- The Byrds, Jackson Browne, Carole
King, and Bakersfield heroes like Merle Haggard. His style ranges from the gentle folk sounds of Angels
in the Stone to the good-time rock and roll of There’s Nothing on the Radio and the California country
easy ride of The Road I Once Traveled. After many years of part-time dabbling in music, Mike left a
career at a California university to dedicate himself to the craft of songwriting and performing. He prides
himself on well-crafted lyrics but he’s not afraid of a groove. His first album, Where I’m From, due in early
2023, presents a new artist who’s already come a long way to find his voice and is now ready to offer it to
the world. Information and videos can be found at http://linktr.ee/mikebermanmusic
